CAREER GOALS

To become a motivation speaker. I have always felt that people have the habits they have due to their core beliefs. Before you can help a person change their habits you need to help change core beliefs about themselves, their diet, training, work and life. I am not a personal trainer or nutritionist. I guess I’d like to call myself a guide. Holistic healing is very important to me and I want to share that with others. Healthy mind, healthy body. In future I’d like to study naturopathy and counselling. I am also competing again in October 2017.

Another career goal I have is to be an oxygen cover girl. When I was 18 and studying dance fulltime I was still very much in the middle of my struggle with bulimia. I looked at an oxygen magazine and thought about how amazing it would feel to have a healthy relationship with food. I was stuck in a very terrible cycle and couldn’t maintain regular eating habits. It made me want that for myself. It wasn’t entirely about wanting their body. It was about the habits their strong bodies represented. My recovery didn’t start until years after that. But I knew one day, when I was ready, I’d be working towards an oxygen body. I am proud to say I have achieved a healthy body, mind and soul far beyond what I dreamed.

Hobbies outside of training & competition?

  • I love to spend time with my family. We are always at the beach in summer and swim indoors during the colder seasons.
  • Self-education. I enjoy watching documentaries and reading studies.
  • Love learning about quantum physics
  • Big lover of movies.

What are 2 training tips you would give to aspiring Athletes?

  1. A foam roller is probably one of the cheapest pieces of equipment you can buy and one great investment. When I first started training I was all about pushing my body that I forgot being kind is also important. I foam roll out my legs before heavy leg sessions. And my hip flexors before squats. Be gentle with your body. You can’t always be a hard-core beast. Sometimes use a gym session to work on body maintenance and care. You’ll thank yourself later
  2. Don’t lift or train with your ego. Don’t worry about what others are doing. Work on mind muscle connection. Lifting a little lighter and getting a great squeeze in will have you just as sore the next day.

Tell us something we don't know about you?

I am vegan. I have a fiancé and a 3yr old step son who are vegetarian.
