To win an Olympic Gold medal has been my dream since childhood. I am to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics Games and be standing in the middle of the rostrum in August.
Who is your biggest career influence?
Family and friends have been the biggest influencers in my career, and more recently my team of coach Gary Hay and physiologist Daniel Plews have had the most impact on my career in recent years.
What are your hobbies outside of training & competing?
Aside from being in a rowing boat I love to spend time with friends and family and have a passion for all sports. When possible I enjoy water skiing and snow skiing and any challenge involving climbing mountains on foot or on a bike.
What is one training tip you would give to aspiring athletes?
Training is about being smart. Making the most out of every session you have to do, setting small goals for each session and knowing what needs to be achieved. It is not always about achieving personal bests every time you train, but training with intent and purpose and pushing boundaries – that’s when the gold medal performances come.
