Eventually I’d like to move ahead with a career in the emergency services, my dream job is to be in the fire brigade.
In the meantime I’m working on becoming a healthier, faster, stronger, better version of myself. I also plan on returning to the stage next year, so watch this space!
TOP PERSONAL / SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS
When I first started going to the gym I set myself the goal of competing on stage with the INBA. I was initially terrified of the prospect of posing on stage in front of thousands of people wearing nothing but a skimpy bikini and high heels, but once I got on stage all my fears vanished and I couldn’t be more proud of myself for achieving the far-fetched goal I had set myself a year earlier.
Last year I joined a CrossFit gym. This was another daunting experience as I remember being in awe of how fit these athletes are, and thinking that I would never be able to keep up. It’s amazing to constantly learn new skills, and to improve old ones. Through CrossFit I have learnt to be proud of what my body can do, not what it looks like.
What is your Biggest career influence?
I’m a pretty competitive person, I’m always striving to be the best at whatever I do, that keeps me pushing to achieve more and move forward. Once I have a goal I will keep working until it becomes reality. Also, my husband is super supportive, he does whatever he can to help me, I’m really fortunate to have him in my corner.
Hobbies outside of training & competition?
Riding and working on my motorbike, hiking and exploring new places. I like fishing too, I never catch anything but the scenery is always nice. I’m always trying out new hobbies or skills.
What are 2 training tips you would give to aspiring Athletes?
Do something every single day that your future self will thank you for. The harder you work the luckier you’ll get.
Educate yourself, there’s a wealth of knowledge available online in regards to proper nutrition and training. Do your research and understand that quick fixes don’t work.
Tell us something we don't know about you?
I’m really clumsy and uncoordinated, it’s a bit of a family joke. I’m always covered in scrapes and bruises, or tripping over myself. Three days before my first INBA competition I dropped a 20kg plate on my foot and had to have it x-rayed.
